BYE, BYE DAVID

You don´t like blogs so I guess you will never see this. Fuck U. But it was very nice to have you in Finland. You came to learn about phenolics and rest. Did you fulfil any of those objectives? I would say: no. But, on the other hand, you met interesting people, enjoyed the real Finnish forest and improved your Italian...You are welcome to visit us any time, my friend. Henkilökunta is asking where you are. I know that you don´t like blogs so I guess you will never see this. Perkele!

LIPIDS AND BEERS IN GÖTEBORG

The weekend did not start nicely: the congress secretariat did not receive the money transfer for my registration and the weather was Finn-like. But it was interesting. Both, the congress and the "social program". It was a pity that we could not get into the greatest leisure park in Northern countries "Liseberg": it is only open during weekends! Voi Vittu!!! So if you happen to go to Gothenburg, take that into consideration. Another point: what the fuck with the bouncers in night-pubs! To get into any pub is as difficult as seeing two Finns kiss each other! Oh my goodness! You are too young, too old, you have to wear shirt, you have to take off your jacket...Fuck them!!!! I just want to have a beer!!!! We finally did, of course. Must be pointed out that we had the Congress banquet in the city hall. Too decorated for my taste, but nice. Take a look to the pictures, my friends!

LAKE DISTRICT

Saimaa Lake is the biggest in Finland and the fourth biggest lake in Europe. For sure, the most impressive that I have seen in my life so far. It is one of the most outstanding attractions in Finland and one of the main natural spectacles in the world. The lake area is limited by two famous towns of incomparable beauty: Lappeenranta in the south, and Savonlinna, in the north.
We wandered for a couple of days around the lake area and through it: had the unique experience to drive the car through extremely narrow roads surrounded by water both sides and also the pleasure of having an evening trip around the archipelago with a ferry. Some of the experiences will be remembered for a long time: the view of the cottages and the saunas from the ferry and the walk from the Savonlinna's harbour to the Alovinlinna Castle. Just delicious.

FAMILY MATTERS

It was 50% fun and 50% stressful. I almost have to sleep a week to fully recover. My parents speaking Spanish to everybody, asking for impossible things, complaining about the food, the prices...Don´t misunderstand my words...No, it was not so bad, in fact I passed one of the best weeks in Finland. My parents enjoyed the experience and I am proud of them! They managed to come here without getting lost and almost get used to Finnish customs! The dinner at Puolanne's home was also very nice from everybody. It was also a pleasure to have here my uncle, aunt and other relatives (my girlfriend's parents). Tallinn and Helsinki area were the destinations. I am expecting more people to come: my sister will have fun as well. Next spring will be the time for more visits from Spain.

Stockholm with friends

To approach the Swedish coast from the sea with the ferry is a unique experience. The deep green forest is gently mixed with the deep blue sea drawing an exceptional nature picture. During the pleasant trip to reach Stockholm, I imagined myself waking up in one those old mansions overlooking the sea and thinking: should I take my boat today to visit a distant island or just stay in my harbour looking other ships passing by... Never thought that the capital city of Sweden was so beautiful. It was particularly interesting the old city: calm, cozy, warm and inspiring district. Sunken and retrieved ships from the XVII century, a magnificent town hall and historical palaces, churches and towers make of this city a "must" in Northern countries. I would say it is the capital city of all Northern countries. Bella, Bella, Bella. Full of culture and fun. Again beautiful girls and polite people. By the way...Why did Swedish girls go to Spain during the 70's? Oh! I almost forgot: looking for the sun and the typical Latin macho!!! Poor girls. They should have waited until I had arrived here!
